Tossed Like a Singer in a Black Metal Band

I’m thrown backwards in a wave, and my skin crawls and burns from the crowd brushing over me. They’re tossing me to and fro like a singer in a black metal band, while my legs and arms lash about. Then, all at once I drop, almost expecting to free fall into the next level of Hell. Instead, my head hits a hard surface and splitting pain explodes like fireworks in my head. I struggle to get back on my feet, but my efforts are futile against repeated footsteps across my body. When I finally give up in an exhausted collapse, the kicking and pressure from their feet diminish.

Alone again I hear a familiar voice.

“Kid.”

A hand grabs my shoulder and pulls me up.

“Vern?”

  1. What a cool idea – wish I’d heard about this earlier, now to catch up!

  2. Thanks for dropping by. Hope you enjoy the story. It’s been too fun to write in this format!
